<br /> <br />• e. An employee voluntarily or involuntarily demoted for <br />any reason shall be compensated on a step of the new <br />range as administratively determined. <br />f. A former employee reinstated pursuant to provisions of <br />these rules shall be compensated on a step of the ap- <br />proved range as administratively determined. <br />Section 3. Pay Day <br />Employees are paid every other Friday of each month. Pay- <br />roll-checks will be given to department heads, who will in turn <br />distribute them to their employees. If you are off duty on pay <br />day and wish to have your check picked up by someone else, you <br />must-send a written note identifying the person who will be get- <br />ting your check. This note must give permission to release your <br />check to that person. Pay advances are not granted. <br />Section 4. Overtime <br />Overtime, when ordered for essential City functions, shall <br />be allocated as evenly as possible among all classified employees <br />qualified to do the work. ' <br />• Exempt employees are not eligible for. overtime and are re- <br />quired to work the number of hours necessary to satisfactorily <br />care for their position. <br />All employees who are eligible for overtime shall be compen- <br />sated at a rate of one and one-half times their normal. hourly <br />rate for all hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours per week, <br />except for employees of the fire department, who work twenty-four <br />(24) hour shifts. Those employees shall be compensated for <br />authorized overtime at the rate of one and one-half times their <br />hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of fifty-six (56) hours <br />per week, provided said overtime was worked between the hours of <br />7:00 A.M. and 7:00 P.M. All overtime hours worked in excess of <br />fifty-six (56) hours per week that were worked between the hours <br />of 7:00 P.M. and 7:00 A.M. shall be paid at their regular hourly <br />rate. <br />Section 5. Standby Requirements <br />In the Water and Sewer Department, as well as the Street <br />Division, it is necessary that qualified personnel be available <br />to handle emergencies that might arise. <br />• Employees of these departments/divisions are subject to <br />being scheduled on a standby basis for emergency calla This standby <br />duty is rotated among qualified employees and they shall be com- <br />pensated for this responsibility. <br />12 <br />
