Assist the Tax Assessor-Collector in setting up records on the above proper- <br />ties, achieving equalization throughout the taxing jurisdiction, and meeting <br />deadlines and legal requirements for each of the years 1981, 1982 and 1983. <br />7. Prepare recommended City assessments and "in lieu of taxes" payments for each <br />industrial plant within the City's Industrial Districts in accordance with the <br />current Industrial District agreements between the various industries and the <br />City. This will be done for tax years 1981, 1982 and 1983. <br />8. Work with the Tax Assessor-Collector, the Board of Equalization, the Mayor, <br />and the City Commission to promote harmony and understanding. <br />9. Sit with the Board of Equalization at their meetings as necessary and make <br />• available information relating to property values which may be used by <br />them as they see fit in determining the values which should be assigned to <br />properties coming before them. <br />THE SECOND PARTY also agrees that in the event the recommended values <br />are protested by the owners or representatives of the property, SECOND PARTY <br />will furnish expert testimony at their own expense in the District Court of Harris <br />County, Texas. <br />IT IS FURTHER UNDERSTOOD by both parties hereto, that the record cards <br />mentioned in Item 5 above will become the exclusive property of the City of <br />La Porte, and the City may sell or share this information with any other taxing <br />jurisdiction as they may see fit. <br />FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION of the skilled services, technical knowledge, <br />~ and experience of SECOND PARTY in the performance of the obligations devolving <br />upon such party hereunder; and in consideration of the information given and <br />assistance given to the City of La Porte, Texas, the Tax Assessor-Collector and <br />the Board of Equalization in undertaking to value and equalize the values of pro- <br />perties properly coming before the Board of Equalization for the years 1981, 1982 <br />and 1983, for consideration at its equalization hearings; FIRST PARTY AGREES and <br />obligates itself to compensate SECOND PARTY by payment to SECOND PARTY the sum <br />of FORTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($44,000.00) for each of the calendar years, 1981, <br />1982 and 1983, equal payments to be made quarterly upon the submission of a statement <br />by SECOND PARTY to the City. The City shall also furnish all materials and supplies <br />required for this work that are to remain the property of the City of La Porte, Texas. <br />-3- <br />
