Assist the Tax Assessor-Collector in setting up records on the above proper- ties, achieving equalization throughout the taxing jurisdiction, and meeting deadlines and legal requirements for each of the years 1981, 1982 and 1983. 7. Prepare recommended City assessments and "in lieu of taxes" payments for each industrial plant within the City's Industrial Districts in accordance with the current Industrial District agreements between the various industries and the City. This will be done for tax years 1981, 1982 and 1983. 8. Work with the Tax Assessor-Collector, the Board of Equalization, the Mayor, and the City Commission to promote harmony and understanding. 9. Sit with the Board of Equalization at their meetings as necessary and make • available information relating to property values which may be used by them as they see fit in determining the values which should be assigned to properties coming before them. THE SECOND PARTY also agrees that in the event the recommended values are protested by the owners or representatives of the property, SECOND PARTY will furnish expert testimony at their own expense in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. IT IS FURTHER UNDERSTOOD by both parties hereto, that the record cards mentioned in Item 5 above will become the exclusive property of the City of La Porte, and the City may sell or share this information with any other taxing jurisdiction as they may see fit. FOR AND IN CONSIDERATION of the skilled services, technical knowledge, ~ and experience of SECOND PARTY in the performance of the obligations devolving upon such party hereunder; and in consideration of the information given and assistance given to the City of La Porte, Texas, the Tax Assessor-Collector and the Board of Equalization in undertaking to value and equalize the values of pro- perties properly coming before the Board of Equalization for the years 1981, 1982 and 1983, for consideration at its equalization hearings; FIRST PARTY AGREES and obligates itself to compensate SECOND PARTY by payment to SECOND PARTY the sum of FORTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($44,000.00) for each of the calendar years, 1981, 1982 and 1983, equal payments to be made quarterly upon the submission of a statement by SECOND PARTY to the City. The City shall also furnish all materials and supplies required for this work that are to remain the property of the City of La Porte, Texas. -3-
