It does cause some problems when someone comes up and says, I haven't been here long enough to understand the budget and I don't understand what's going on. Yes, I would like for the Council to be here and I don't mind calling a special meeting. Malone: Mr. Mayor, are we calling this because of the way it will affect the budget? Is that why we are mentioning the budget? Meza: That is what Mr. Faris's request was. Your request is being honored and I think the whole Council should be concerned about it. Malone: Well, I didn't think the budget was going to be affected by the salary scale we already had. We passed an ordinance with a salary scale and we were told no salary would be affected and all the police officers and everyone involved would get a 7 percent salary increase. Faris: But you said you wanted to change the salary scale. Malone: Well, I have a recommendation. I didn't want to read it because it would take too long. It isn't that much, anyway. You probably aren't talking about more than $10,000 and you have $200,000 in the Contingency Fund. We just bor- rowed more than that. Skelton: I think the thing Mr. Gay was talking about is having a special called meeting. Did we decide when we were going to have this? Gay: Not to discuss the ordinance Mr. Malone proposed. Meza: Well, we can discuss that at the next workshop. Gay: But he says we don't have time to go through all of that. I'm sorry, sir, I misunderstood. Meza: Mr. Lehman, do you have any further comments? Lehman: No, sir, but does this ordinance mean you are going to look at trying to get Mr. Hall reinstated?
