• RESOLUTION NO . ~~ ~~~ <br />• A RESOLUTION REJECTING LOCAL MEASURED TELEPHONE SERVICE BY <br />f- SOUTHWESTERN BELL. <br />WHEREAS, The City of La Porte, Texas desires to protect the <br />interests of all its citizens including the poor and the <br />elderly; and <br />WHEREAS, in response to a public drive to express <br />dissatisfaction with Southwestern Bell's proposed local measured <br />telephone service; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte believes the optional nature <br />of the proposed charging mechanism to be provisional and certain <br />to become mandatory as in the States of Florida and California; <br />and <br />~, <br />• WHEREAS, it is determined that such a charging policy would <br />adversely affect all La Porteons, particularly the elderly and <br />the poor; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTS: <br />Section 1.
