~ • <br /> <br />The residents of the City of La Porte are provided excellent school facilities by the <br />La Porte Independent School District, which is fully accredited by the Texas Education <br />Agency and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. All of the school faci- <br />lities are fully air-conditioned and centrally heated and are furnished with modern <br />educational equipment and aids. Following is a brief description of the District's <br />administrative and educational facilities: <br />Administration - Administration and support facilities contain approximately 42,000 <br />square 5eet, including a transportation center and warehouse building. <br />Elementary Schools - The District operates five elementary schools which have a com- <br />bined total capacity of 4,800. <br />Junior High Schools - There are two junior high schools which have a total student ca-' <br />pacity of 1,600. <br />High School - The District operates one high school which has a student capacity of <br />2,000. <br />Athletic Facilities - Each of the District's schools has a gymnasium with dressing <br />room facilities for both boys and girls.
