<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1501, Page 2 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, deems <br /> <br />it necessary in order to lessen congestion on streets, to secure <br /> <br />safety from fire, panic, and other dangers: to promote health and <br /> <br />general welfare: to provide adequate light and air: to prevent the <br /> <br /> <br />overcrowding of land: to avoid undue concentration of population: to <br /> <br /> <br />facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage, <br /> <br /> <br />schools, parks, and other public requirements: to conserve the value <br /> <br />of property and encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout <br /> <br /> <br />the City of La Porte, County of Harris, State of Texas, all in <br /> <br />accordance with the provisions of the Comprehensive Plan of the City <br /> <br /> <br />of La Porte, as adopted by the Planning and Zoning Commission of the <br /> <br />City of La Porte: and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article 1011a et seq of the Revised Civil Statutes of <br /> <br />the State of Texas empowers the City to enact a Land Use Plan and <br /> <br /> <br />Zoning Ordinance, and to provide for its administration, enforcement, <br /> <br />and amendment: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte deems it <br /> <br /> <br />necessary for the purpose of promoting the health, safety, morals, <br /> <br />and general welfare of the community to enact such an ordinance: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte, pursuant to <br /> <br /> <br />the provisions of Article 101lf of the Revised Civil Statutes of the <br /> <br /> <br />State of Texas, has appointed a Planning and Zoning Commission to <br /> <br />recommend the boundaries of the various original districts and the <br /> <br /> <br />appropriate regulations to be enforced therein: and <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of La <br /> <br />Porte has divided the City of La Porte into land use districts and <br /> <br /> <br />has prepared regulations in accordance with the provisions of the <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan of the City of La Porte, as adopted by said Planning <br /> <br />and Zoning Commission of the City of La Porte, specifically designed <br /> <br /> <br />to lessen congestion in the streets, to secure safety from fire, <br /> <br />panic, and other dangers: to promote health and the general welfare: <br /> <br />to provide adequate light and air: to prevent the overcrowding of <br />
