In case any building or structure is erected, constructed, reconstructed, altered, repaired, converted or maintained, or any building, structure, or land is used in violation of the general law or of the terms of this ordinance, the City of La Porte, in addition to imposing the penalty above provided, may institute any appropriate action or proceedings in a Court of competent jurisdiction to provide such unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, al~eration, repair, conversion, maintenance or use, to restrain, correct, or abate such violation, or to prevent the occupancy of such building, structure, or land, to prevent the illegal act, conduct, or use, in or about such land: and the definition of any violation of the terms of this ordinance as a misdemeanor shall not preclude the City of La Porte from invoking the civil remedies given it by law in such cases, including collection of reasonable attorney's fees and court costs, for the same shall be cumulative of and in addition to the penalties prescribed for such violation. Section 5. This ordinance comprises the text of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of La Porte. At the time of the effective date of this ordinance as specified below, all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with any of the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed insofar as the same are in conflict with the provisions hereof, particularly including the repeal of Ordinance No. 780 of the City of La Porte, together with all amendments thereto. Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after 12:01 a.m., January 1, 1987. As an additional condition precedent to enacting this ordinance into full force and effect, the caption of this ordinance shall be published by the City Secretary of the City of La Porte in the official newspaper of the City of La Porte, Texas, as required by the City Charter.
