Smith, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Sealed Bid ~~0222 Two Police Sedans <br />DATE: February 1, 1988 <br />Sir. <br />I am recommending that we accept the bid package from <br />Knapp Chevrolet on two (2) police sedans. Knapp was low <br />bidder of the two bids returned. Their bid was $12,499.00 <br />per car. <br />Cost of two (2) vehicles, would be $24,998.00. This <br />amount is $2,198.00 more than the budgeted amount of <br />$22,800.00 in Motor Pool Replacement Fund. I am requesting <br />$2,188.00 be transferred from P~fotor Pool Contingency, <br />Budget ~~ 009 600 600 650 to Budget ~~ OOg 502 502 852 Motor <br />Pool Replacement Fund. <br />Our other alternatives are (1) to reject all bids and <br />rebid. After further discussion with automobile dealers, it <br />was determined that this would not produce a reduction in bid <br />price. (2). purchase vehicles through HGAC at $21,601.19 for <br />Dodge Diplomats. These cars are not acceptable as police <br />vehicles and delivery on these cars cannot be made before <br />August.
