Letter of agreement between City of La Porte and Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. An extension on the contract for disposal of solid waste at the Hazelwood Landfill between the City of La Porte and Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. was approved by the City Council on April 17, 1989. The extension will expire In 1992. The Texas Department of Health has imposed a fee of seventeen cents ($.17) per compacted yard of waste and ten cents ($.10) per yard of uncompacted waste upon all landfills effective January 1, 1990. The imposition of this fee was not known by either party during the contract extension negotiations. Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. has requested an amendment to the conditions of the contract be prepared passing the fee through to the City of La Porte. All other customers of the Hazelwood Landfill have agreed to the pass -through of the fee. Staff recommends approval of a Letter of Agreement between the City of La Porte and Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. amending the current contract for disposal of solid waste to allow Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. to pass through the fee of $.17 per cubic yard of compacted waste and $.10 per cubic yard of uncompacted waste to the City of La Porte. Action Required by Council: Approve Letter of Agreement between the City of La Porte and Hazelwood Enterprises, Inc. amending the current disposal contract to allow State disposal fee pass -through.
