CITY OF LA PORTE
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
JANUARY 31, 1990
TO: Mayor. Norman Malone and City Council
FROM: Dangerous Buildings Board of Ins tion"
Paul Hickenbottom, Fire Marsh 4 /
Mark S. Lewis, City Inspecto
THROUGH: Robert T. Herrera, City Managers
SUBJECT: Condemnation of Dangerous Buildings
Attached are inspection reports regarding twelve (12)
properties which have been inspected by the Dangerous Buildings
Board of inspections. It is the unanimous opinion of the Board
that each of the buildings located on these properties is unsafe,
a blighting influence on the City, and a public nuisance. It is
also the Board's opinion that, due to their deteriorated
condition, repair of the structures is not practical. We
therefore, believe demolition of the buildings to be the best
course of action and recommend that Council authorize
condemnation public hearings for all of the structures being
considered.
A list and brief description of the structures under
consideration follows:
1) 2300 Block of South Broadway: One story green
metal skinned commercial building.
2) 1500 Block of South Broadway: One story, frame
house on block foundation; brown corrugated metal
walls.
3) 431.
