A • ~ ", ~ ~ <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />SPECIFICATIONS <br />AGGREGATE FOR SURFACE TREATMENT (PE) <br />r <br />i <br />GENERAL: Shall meet all requirements of Item 304 - Texas State <br />Department of Highways. <br />DESCRIPTION: The natural limestone rock asphalt aggregate, when <br />furnished, shall have an average bitumen content from 4 to 8 <br />percent by weight of naturally impregnated asphalt, as <br />determined by Test Method Tex-215-F, and shall cor_tain not <br />more than 2 percent by weight of ar_y one of or combination of <br />iron pyrites, or other objectionable matter, as determined by <br />Test Method Tex-217-F, Part I. <br />WEAR: The percent of wear on natural limestone rock asphalt <br />aggregate as determined by Test Method Tex-410-A shall be mace <br />on that portion of the material retained or_ the No. 4 sieve, <br />having a naturally impregnated asphalt cor_tent of Less tha^_ <br />1 pFarCent. <br />TYPE: Shall be Type PE - precoated aggregate consisting of nat~~ral <br />limestone rock asphalt. <br />GRADES: Shall be grades PE 2 ar_d PE 4. <br />PREGOAT: The precoating material and!or fluxing material shall <br />meet the requirements specified in Item 300 - Asphalts, Oils, <br />and Emulsions. <br />DELIVERY: All prices shall be quoted F.0_B_ City of La Porte, 29E3 <br />N. 23rd Street, La Porte, Texas, 77571. Material shall be <br />shipped rail freight for 1000 tons or more. Quantities less <br />than 1000 tons shall be trucked. <br /> <br />
