~~...+ , ~ ~ FILE COPY JOINT RESOLUTION BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE LA PORTS BAYSHORE CHAMBER OF~ COMMERCE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte, pursuant to the recommendation of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee and the Citizens Capital Improvement Committees, has placed be- fore the voters of the City of La Porte nine Capital Improvement Project Proposals; and , WHEREAS, said Capital Improvement Project Proposals are pro- posed to be funded by ,the phased issuance of bonds by the City of La Porte; and WHEREAS, the proposed Capital Improvement Projects, will, if approved by the voters of the City of La Porte, make the City of La Porte a better place to live, work, and enjoy life, boost the local economy, and provide new jobs in the five year construction perio~9 contemplated for completion of said Capital "'Improvement Projects; and WHEREAS, approval of all nine Project Proposals will at most result in a three cent per one hundred dollars of appraised valuation tax rate increase; and WHEREAS, several of said Capital Improvement Projects, if not funded by the ,issuance of bonds, must be funded fn the near future •i~y short term tax increases and service rate increases; and WHEREAS, La Porte must provide the basic municipal services necessary to service the fast population growth experienced by the community, and prepare and look forward to the future growth and prosperity of the City; Nc)W, '1'Hh;REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE EXECUTIVE BOARD AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE LA PORTS BAYSHORE' CHAMBER OF COh1h1ERCE, ACTING ON BEHALF OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP: THAT the continual planning efforts of the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, the Citizens. Advisory Committee, and the Citizens Capital Improvements Committee, together with the City Council of the City of La Porte, be applauded; and THAT the La Porte Bayshore Chamber of Commerce urge increased citizen participation in said continuing planning efforts; and THAT the La Porte Bayshore Chamber of Commerce • urge the citizens of the City of La Porte to vote in favor of all nine Capital Improvement Project Proposals, at the election on said project proposals to be held on June 15th, 1985, between the hours of 7:00 A.
