Security Related Issues The st:ctlrity issues for the political subdivisions involve three separate cases. These cases include J=.n "97 9: 59 .'Ie. 0)3 P. 09 larg~ political subdivisions using mainframes. political subdivisions using th~ <.1pplication from third-party vendors ( such as Office of Court AJlninistration), ~l11d political subdivisions using ODS's Ri:motc Entry System (RES). The finn- level is in the application itsdf which will cr~atc 11 hidJenfile upon installation and will not transmit any records without the presence of this hjdd~n file. RES will utilize e check code that is gellcr~ted with all algoritbm. -nle code wil.l be included i.n the header which will use the number of r~cMds transmitted and possibly other field values 1Imn tlle included records. Each record will have a similar check code that is gcnerattd based solely on the paJticulur record. Each transmission wil I he seew.cd through a check code algorithm-generated- header j,nclusion, and. each record will be s~cured through n similar check code algorithm generated Jf()m field values (hat will be ])elmonently stored in the database and verifit:d when the record is updated jn the database. : The political subdivisions that will he using tJlird- party appiic3Tions v,fill expon rheir dnta to disk. RES ",ill then import the data, map 1he database fields, and tran.smit the data to the OmniBase server. Since the RES system wi.ll be doing the U'ansmission" the same security nnd line access will be utilized in this case. Lnrge cities that use maintrame computers will also lIse the same check code thut is generated in the RES system. The OmniBase server \..;11 verify the code at its tr:'Culsmission. In addition to the code, they ~i,l1 also utilize the Security Dvnamics Secure ~ . , ID card.
