wm <br />Implementation Costs <br />h recommended - follows: <br />The re o ed three-year GIS implementation costs are as o <br />MB <br />M Year One - Database Development and Initial Enterprise -Wide Deployment <br />x� The first year will be comprised of data base accessibility, data development, training, <br />hardware, software installation, and some application development. The overriding need in <br />this first year is to develop, convert, and acquire the needed data layers. This is not the most <br />glamorous part of the project, but is critical to success. The acquisition and creation of vital <br />digital data will enable La Porte to show success quickly. <br />At the end of year one La Porte will have accomplished the following goals: <br />• Acquired hardware and software to support City-wide GIS usage <br />• Converted existing CAD based data to GIS <br />• Created approximately 50 new GIS layers to serve all La Porte departments <br />• Provided training to key staff throughout the City <br />• Implemented a City-wide GIS data browser <br />• Implemented a work order mapping extension to the data browser <br />• Implemented a 911 dispatch mapping application <br />• Implemented crime mapping application <br />• Will have gone from GIS for a few staff to GIS for all departments <br />Year One Resources: $196,320 <br />Year Two - Application Development Phase <br />Year two's main focus is the further development of applications that will enable staff to <br />work more effectively. Applications for all departments will be deployed. <br />At the end of year two La Porte will have accomplished the following goals: <br />• Created an Intranet application for access by all City staff <br />• Provided access to GIS data via the internet <br />• Expanded the use of the GIS based data browser <br />• Continued the creation of data layers and data bases <br />• Implemented a citizen concern/inquiry tracking system <br />• Continued training La Porte staff on GIS usage <br />• Implemented field collection units for Engineering and Public Works <br />Year Two Resources: $126,100 <br />©Geographic Technologies Group, tne. iii <br />
