" . e ORDINANCE NO. /..95 AN ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION OF THE CITY OF LOMAX TO CON- SIDER THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE CITIES OF LOMAX AND LA PORTE, TEXAS; FINDING THAT A PETITION CALLING FOR SUCH CONSOLIDATION HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE CITY SECRETARY; PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICIALS: PROVIDING FOR METHOD AND DATES OF ABSENTEE VOTING; PROVIDING FOR RETU~N AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOll-tAX: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lomax, Texas, hereby finds, determines and declares that the number of voters in thi last general election of officials of the City was One Hundred Seventy-eight (178) and that fifteen per cent (15%) of that number is Twenty-seven (27). '. Section 2. The City Council of the City of Lomax, Texas, hereby finds, determines and declares that a petition contain- ing the signatures of 7/ registered voters of the City of Lomax has been duly filed with the City Secretary of the Ci ty of Lomax, Texas, and that said number of signatures of registered 'voters is greater than fifteen per cent (15) of the number of voters in the last general election of officials of the City. Section 3. An election shall be held within the corporate limits of , the City of Lomax, Texas, on the 19th day of January, 1980, such day being the third Saturday in January, 1980, between seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M., for the purpose of considering the question of whether the City of Lomax, Texas, should be consolidated with the City of La Porte, Texas. Section 4. Said election shall be held in the Lomax City Hall, 1508 Lomax School Road, Lomax, Texas, and the following named persons are hereby appointed as off icers of said elec- tion , to-wit:
