• • <br />3. Vibration: <br />• Earthborne vibration levels shall be measured with a <br />three-component measuring system approved by the <br />Zoning Administrator. Vibration shall be expressed as <br />displacement in inches. <br />4. Smoke and Particulate Matter: <br />(a) Any use already established on the effective date <br />of this Ordinance shall be permitted to be altered, <br />enlarged, expanded, or modified, provided that <br />the new source of smoke or particulate matter <br />conforms to the performance standards established <br />hereinafter for the district in which such use is <br />located. The total emission weight of particulate <br />matter and smoke from all sources, within the lot <br />boundaries, shall not exceed the net amount per- <br />mitted in the district in which the use is located <br />after such alteration, enlargement, expansion, <br />or modification. <br />(b) Particulate matter and other dusts, borne by the <br />winds from such sources as storage areas, yards, <br />roads, and similar sources within the lot bound- <br />aries shall be minimized by appropriate land- <br />' scaping, paving, or other means acceptable to <br />the Zoning Administrator. <br />(c) Open industrial operations involving dust-producing <br />equipment or operations such as sandblasting, paint- <br />spraying, feed and grain handling, and similar <br />operations, shall be so conducted that such dusts <br />do not cross lot lines in concentrations exceeding <br />one million particles per cubic foot when measured <br />at ground Level or inhabitable elevation, whichever <br />is more restrictive. <br />(d) Chimneys, vents, stacks, etc. shall have provi- <br />sions for the insertion of a probe to determine the <br />particulate loading of an effluent. Such provision <br />shall be at the discretion of the Zoning Adminis- <br />trator, and sampling procedures shall follow <br />those published by the American Industrial <br />Hygiene Association in its Air Pollution Manual, <br />Part I, Evaluation. <br />-xr~ <br />~~ <br />
