<br />Page 16 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL LAND USE PROPOSAL: <br /> <br />The original land use proposal showed a relatively narrow <br /> <br />industrial corridor on either side of the Southern Pacific <br /> <br />railroad tracks with mid and low-density housing East of the <br /> <br />corridor to 26th St. <br /> <br />The Southern Pacific rail yard area was <br /> <br />proposed to be an i.ndustrial PUD, and the existing residential <br /> <br />uses in the La Porte Terrace area were proposed to become an <br /> <br />industrial use of some form. South of Barbours Cut Boulevard and <br /> <br />in the corridor East of 16th, was a proposal to include mid and' <br /> <br />high-density residential uses South to approximately Fairmont <br /> <br />Parkway. <br /> <br />East of 16th St. to the Southern Pacific railroad <br /> <br />tracks was shown to be industrial land use. South of Fairmont <br /> <br />Parkway in the corridor was proposed to be low and mid-densi ty <br /> <br />residential. <br /> <br />ADJUSTED LAND USE PLAN: <br />~ <br /> <br />The following is a description of the recommendations of the <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning Commission with regard to land uses in the <br /> <br />proposed industrial corridor.
