<br />j <br />f <br />I <br /> <br />Page 19 <br /> <br />The area South of Fairmont Parkway in the industrial corridor <br />received a restructuring of land use designations. As discussed <br />earlier, this area was proposed to be primarily residential. <br />Subsequent to the delivery of the comprehensive plan this area <br />has received attention from La Porte I s "Economic Development <br />Group". It is known as the South 16th St. Planning Area. Land <br />owners have "joined..handsll and have verbally committed to both <br />proposed street and drainage rights-of-way that would tend to <br />encourage development in this area. It was determined that the <br />area West of South 16th St. would be best utilized with some form <br />of industrial land use due to its proximity to rail frontage. <br />East of 16th St. and \Vest of 146 South would remain a PUD as <br />originally designated, but the types of land uses within that <br />would be the commercial industrial, commercial, and some <br />residential land uses. <br /> <br />OLD LA PORTE <br /> <br />Some restru~ring was considered on the South side of Barbours <br />Cut from Highway 146 to the Eastern City limits line. It was <br />decided that existing trucking businesses located in the North <br />5th St. to North 8th St. area should be considered as a form of <br /> <br />W=XHtB\T J <br />
