• • <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />March 27, 1989, Page 4 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Shipp to award the bid for <br />the mower to Watson Distributing in the amount of $7090 and <br />the off-road utility vehicle to E-Z Go Textron in the amount <br />of $5800. Second by Councilperson Waters. The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, <br />Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />14. Administrative Reports: The City Manager recommended that <br />Council schedule a workshop meeting on April 17 to discuss the <br />airport regulations draft, the proposed industrial waste <br />ordinance and the proposed usage fees for Little Cedar Bayou <br />wave pool. Council agreed to the workshop. <br />The City Manager also asked if Council wished to place the <br />request from Mr. Randy Woodard for funds to help defray the <br />cost of the Houston Symphony concert on the agenda for April <br />24. Council directed the City Manager to do so. <br />15. Council Action: <br />Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, Gay, Skelton <br />and Clarke brought items to Council's attention. <br />Councilperson Cooper asked that public works check Mrs. Kokes' <br />water meters, etc., to see if she might have a leak. <br />Councilperson Matuszak asked to go on record that had he been <br />in attendance at the March 13 meeting (he was out of the <br />City), he would have voted in favor of both the sign ordinance <br />and the electrical ordinance. <br />Several Councilpersons recommended educating the public on <br />water conservation and mail-outs with water bills explaining <br />why the City's water rates are so high. <br />Several members of Council emphasized the need to support <br />local businesses whenever possible. <br />16. There being no further business to come before the Council, <br />the meeting was duly adjourned at 7:54 P.M. <br />
