Council considered an ordinance authorizing issuance of an alcoholic beverage license for Two Cajuns Cafe and Meat Market. The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1000-Y - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 1000 OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, DESIGNATING THE AREAS WHERE BEER FOR CONSUMPTION ON PREMISES MAY BE SOLD Af1D PROHIBITING THE SALE ELSEWHERE; PROVIDING FOR HOURS OF OPENING AND CLOSING; DEFINING SOURCE OF AUTHORITY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDTNG THAT NO LICENSE SHALL BE ISSUED EXCEPT FOR THE AREAS HEREIN DESIGNATED; FINDING COP9PLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. _Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to adopt Ordinance 1000-Y as read by the Citv Attorney. CounciJ_ considered approving property tax refunds for overpayments exceeding $500.00. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve tax refund payments to Wharton Weems Estate in the amount of $844.56 and rime Cable Fort Bend in the amount of $586.50. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone Nays; None 15. Council considered declaring an emergency and authorizing repair of a damaged ambulance.
