<br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />May 8, 1989, Page 5 <br />Motion was made b ~ Councilperson Skelton to declare an <br />emergenev and authorize replacement of the damaged ambulance <br />chassis in the amount of $32,500. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />16. Council considered rejecting bids for fire hose and <br />authorizing re-bid. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Shipp to reject the bid for <br />fire hose and authorize re-bidding the item. Second by <br />Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />17. There was no Administrative report. <br />18. Council Action: Councilpersons Cooper, Porter, Shipp, Gay, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone brought items to Council's <br />attention. <br />Councilperson Gay reported problems at the park on First <br />Street and asked if could somehow be lighted. Problems with <br />the "E" Street feeder going into the Booth Homes area were <br />also noted. <br />Councilperson called attention to several problem areas <br />through the City that need attention and suggested a community <br />clean up. Nugent Street drainage was also commented ors. <br />Councilperson Clarke asked that the traffic problems on 8th <br />Street be seriously looked at to see if some type of traffic <br />control device could be installed. He also feels that the <br />Charter needs to be looked at and updated. <br />19• Council adjourned into executive session at 7:00 P.M. under <br />Section 2(E) of Article 6252-17, to meet with attorney <br />regarding Houston Chemical Services, Inc. Council returned to <br />the table at 8:28 P.M. <br />
