<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Hinutes, Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />Harch 14, 1988, Page 3 <br /> <br />Comments that had been received by mail previous to the <br />meeting are made a part of these minutes. <br /> <br />Councilperson Clarke commented that the workshop scheduled <br />on the ordinance and map did not have to be on a Honday <br />night as far as he was concerned. Consensus was that the <br />workshop meeting could be held after the regular meeting on <br />Harch 28. <br /> <br />There being no further input, the Mayor declared the public <br />hearing closed. <br /> <br />5. Council considered approving the minutes of the public <br />hearings and regular meeting of Council held February 22, <br />1988. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Matuszak to approve the <br />Februarv 22 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays. <br />(Councilperson Gay was away from the table.) <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Lloyd, Hatuszak, Porter, Shipp, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />6. Lynwood Anderson addressed Council regarding portable signs <br />and their importance to the small businessman. <br /> <br />7. Council considered an ordinance adopting interim sign <br />regulations. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1501-B - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING ARTICLE 3, OF ORDINANCE 1501, THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />ZONING ORDINANCE, PROVIDING NEW DEFINITIONS OF <br />FREE-STANDING SIGN OR GROUND SIGN, IDENTIFICATION SIGN, OFF <br />PREMISE SIGN, ON PREMISE SIGN, SETBACK, SIGN MEASUREMENT, <br />SIGHT TRIANGLE, AND SIGN; FURTHER AHENDING ARTICLE 5, <br />SECTION 5-600; ARTICLE 5, SECTION 5-700; ARTICLE 6, SECTION <br />6-400; ARTICLE 6, SECTION 6-500; ARTICLE 7, SECTION 7-500; <br />AND ARTICLE 7, SECTION 7-600 TO PROVIDE REGULATIONS FOR THE <br />LOCATION AND HEIGHT OF SIGNS WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />FURTHER ADDING A NEW SECTION, BEING ARTICLE 10, SECTION <br />10-1000 INTERIM SIGN REGULATIONS AS A SINGULAR REFERENCE <br />POINT TO ALL THE FOREMENTIONED CHANGES; PROVIDING THAT ANY <br />PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE <br />DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE <br />FINED A SUM NOT MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00); <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN HEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />
