M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor M. D. <br />Rurgin~ with the following members and city officials present: Commiss- <br />ioners L. R.Rigby and H. P. Pfeiffer, Special Counsel Jno.S. Kiibler, and <br />City Clerk Frank G. Falser. . <br />Also present were Mr.V~. A. Arthur, Supt, cf Public Morks, Mr. Janes S. <br />Crate, Jr., and Mrs, Alice Stabs, Reporter. <br />r~2inutes of the last meetir~ were read and approved. <br />Mr. Baker and Mr. James E. Richards, of the Burton Utility Company, appeared <br />before the Omission and submitted a bid of X1.50 per fmt to lay a sewer <br />line, estimated cost to be X1150.00. <br />Mr. Geo.Cockburn was presents and submitted a bid of X80.00 per day estimate <br />to dig a trench for sewer line, and to dig 50~ per day. <br />Action on street lights was postponed for further discussion. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, secorrl by Rigby that City apply for two meters on <br />airport c~ arance lights, Mr. F1 ~adsvTOrth to give City letter stating <br />that all bills pertaining theretc will be paid by Airport. <br />Car~+ied. <br />` Orders for three (3) two-way radios were placed with Motorola Corporation, <br />same to be used on police cars and for civil defense. <br />Motion by Rigby, second by Pfeiffer, that the following Resolution be <br />passed: <br />RESOLUTION <br />t'~HER.EAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of La Porte, Texas <br />at a meeting held the 1st day of November, A. D. 19l~8, duly passed and <br />approved a resolution closing the East-~lifest runway of the Auxiliary <br />Landing Field No. 2 of Ellington Field, now known as the City of La- <br />Porte Municipal. Airport, and ordered that such runway should remain <br />closed and not used during the time the Air N~#~ional Guard used and <br />occupied that certain 8.1 acre tract of such ~arpm t; and <br />tiYHEREAS, the City of La Porte has received the following two (2) <br />letters, to-tigi.t: <br /> <br />
