~ ~ z <br />the amendment would speak first, then any that <br />opposed the amendment would be permitted to speak. <br />It was ascertained that a Public Notice of this <br />hearing was published in the official newspaper <br />of the City on July 30, August 6, and August 13, <br />1970. <br />Mayor Smith read the following recommendation <br />from the Planning and Zoning Commission: That <br />City Ordinance No. 780 be changed to read <br />"duplex dwellings can be built in Zones R-I <br />and R-2 by special permit only". <br />The following persons spoke in favor of the <br />amendment <br />Mrs. John Cutler, Barbara Geisleman, Barney <br />Giles, Eugene Meeks, R. J. Terry, Mrs. Geo. <br />Speck, Mrs. Frank Hunt, J. J. Cunningham, Norman <br />Neville, Mrs. Fritz Wilson, Mrs. Evelyn Richards, <br />Stan Hootman, A. H. Viebig, Dorothy Brandon, <br />Mrs. Baird, Thomas Litchenstein, B. L.Fry and <br />Mrs. DeLosSantos. <br />Those speaking against the amendment were <br />Eric Lowenthal and John Fullerton. <br />Mayor Smith asked if there were any further <br />comments and there being none, he declared <br />the hearing closed. <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission then voted <br />to recommend the amendment. <br />Motion by Commissioner Crofoot, seconded by <br />Commissioner Thomas to adopt Ordinance No. <br />780-G as read. Motion carried by the following <br />vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux, Burgin <br />and Crofoot. <br />NAYS: None. <br />CAPTION: <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 780, THE <br />CITY CAF LA PORTE ZONING ORDINANCE, PASSED AND <br />APPROVED ON FEBRUARY 5, 1968, AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />+ + + <br />
