A canvass of the votes cast in the Bond Election <br />held on Saturday, May 15, 1971 was made. <br />Mr. Ernest Brown, city fiscal agent, explained <br />that although the fire station bond issue had <br />passed in total vote, it had carried by the non <br />property owners and these voters could not carry <br />an election. <br />Motion by Comm. Thomas, seconded by Comm. Kibodeaux <br />to adopt Ordinance No. 881 as read. Motion carried <br />by the following vote: <br />AYES: Commissioners Thomas, Kibodeaux and Sampson. <br />NAYS: None. <br />ABSENT: Commissioner Crofoot. <br />CAPTION: <br />ORDINANCE CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS <br />OF BOND ELECTION AND DECLARING THAT SAID ORDINANCE <br />SHALL BE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON ITS ADOPTION. <br />+ + + <br />4. Mayor Smith read a request from E. I. DuPont de <br />Nemours and Company for the City of La Porte to <br />consent to the abandonment of a portion of Strang <br />Road. <br />A plat, enclosed with the request, was studied and <br />the Commission asked Mr. Askins to contact DuPont <br />for a more readable map. <br />z <br />• Motion by Comm.
