<br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />January 14, 1991, Page 3 <br />The City Secretary read: ORDINANCE 1742 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A DEPOSITORY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE AND BAYSHORE NATIONAL BANK OF LA PORTE, FOR <br />A TWO YEAR TERM, COMMENCING FEBRUARY 1, 1991, AND TERMINATING <br />JANUARY 31, 1993, AND ON A MONTH TO MONTH BASIS THEREAFTER; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1742 as read by the City Secretarv. Second by Councilperson <br />McLaughlin. The motion carried, 6 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Pro Tem Porter <br />Nays: None <br />Mayor Malone, Mr. Askins and Councilperson Sutherland returned <br />to the Council table after the vote was taken. <br />11. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 11 of the <br />Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte, authorizing a <br />contract with Harris County for Food Establishment <br />Surveillance Program services. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to table this item for <br />further study. Second by Councilperson McLaughlin. The <br />motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />12. Council considered a resolution supporting the Texas Municipal <br />League's proposed amendments to Texas Local Government Code <br />Chapter 143 (Municipal Civil Service Act). <br />The City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 91-01 - A RESOLUTION OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, SUPPORTING <br />THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL LEAGUE'S PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO TEXAS <br />LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE CHAPTER 143 (MUNICIPAL CIVIL SERVICE <br />ACT) TO RESTORE PROPER AND EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT TO LEGISLATORS <br />REPRESENTING THE LA PORTE AREA TO ADOPT AND SUPPORT SUCH <br />LEGISLATION; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve Resolution <br />91-01 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />
