<br />----- ----- <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />e e <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Minutes, Regular Meeting, La Porte City Council <br />December 12, 1988, Page 2 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />At this time Council retired into executive session to address <br />three legal matters: (1) legal/land acquisition - discuss <br />with attorney(s) status of condemnation suit to acquire <br />landfill site; (2) legal - discussion with special counsel <br />regarding retaining professional consultants to assist in <br />review of Houston Chemical Services, Inc., application; (3) <br />legal - contractual meeting with City Attorney to discuss <br />airport leases. <br /> <br />Council left the table at 6:13 P.M. for the executive session <br />and returned to the table at 7:48 P.M. <br /> <br />5. Council considered an ordinance suspending the schedule of <br />rates of Houston Lighting & Power Company. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1625 - AN ORDINANCE <br />RECITING THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER <br />COMPANY (HL&P) STATEMENT OF INTENT TO CHANGE ELECTRIC RATES; <br />SUSPENDING THE SCHEDULE OF RATES OF HL&P FOR A PERIOD OF <br />NINETY (90) DAYS FROM THE EFFECTIVE DATE THEREOF; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR THIS ORDINANCE. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Counciloerson Waters to adoot Ordinance <br />1Q2~ as read bv the Citv Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, <br />Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />6. Council considered an ordinance extending the corporate limits <br />of the City of La Porte to include the area comprising the <br />Bayshore Municipal Utility District and approving a service <br />plan for such territory. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1626 - AN ORDINANCE <br />EXTENDING THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />TO EMBRACE AND INCLUDE TERRITORY WITHIN CERTAIN BOUNDARIES <br />COMPRISING THE BAYSHORE MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT; ANNEXING <br />TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, TERRITORY WITHIN SUCH <br />BOUNDARIES; APPROVING A SERVICE PLAN FOR SUCH TERRITORY; <br />MAKING FINDINGS AND OTHER PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; <br />AND PROVIDING SAVING AND SEVERABILITY CLAUSES. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Counciloerson Porter to adoot Ordinance <br />1626 as read bv the Citv Attorne~. Second by Councilperson <br />Cooper. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, <br />Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />None: None <br />
