Council considered an ordinance establishing rates and hours available for rentals for use of recreation centers. The ordinance was amended by Council as follows: In section 1, wording was removed and will now read "Facilities may not be rented on the following Holidays"; in section 2, part A, the first descriptive sentence was removed and the second sentence will now read "This would apply to exhibits, shows, demonstrations, seminars and other civic activities for which an admission fee is not charged, nor funds raised." The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1703, AS AMENDED - AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE RATES AND HOURS AVAILABLE FOR RENTALS FOR THE USE OF THE EVELYN KENNEDY CIVIC CENTER, JENNIE RILEY RECREATION CENTER, CHARLES WALKER ANNEX AND THE FAIRMONT RECREATION CENTER; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made bv Counciloerson Coooer to adopt Ordinance 1703 as amended. Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. Nays: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke Malone None Matuszak, and Mayor Ayes: 11. Council considered an ordinance regulating burglary and robbery alarm systems in the City of La Porte. Motion was made bv councilperson Sutherland to table this item. Second by Councilperson Clarke.
