Council considered addition of one position to the Criminal <br />Investigation Division and approval of ordinance to amend the <br />present budget. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1705 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING THE BUDGET OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE <br />FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 1989, AND ENDING SEPTEMBER <br />30, 1990, BY ADDING A CERTAIN POLICE PERSONNEL POSITION. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to adopt Ordinance <br />1705 as read bY the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson <br />Porter. Workshop Item: Discuss Providing an employee assistance <br />program for city employees. <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Louis Rigby addressed Council <br />regarding this item. He explained why such a program is <br />necessary and reviewed a proposed assistance program aimed at <br />helping employees and their dependents with many types of <br />problems at a very reasonable cost to the City and no cost to <br />the employee. <br /> <br />15. Council considered an ordinance approving an employee <br />assistance program and approving entering into an agreement <br />with Human Affairs International. <br /> <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1707 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT FOR AN EMPLOYEES <br />ASSISTANCE PROGRAM BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />AND HUMAN AFFAIRS INTERNATIONAL, INC.; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS <br />
