<br />PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 10, 1990 <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />4. <br />5. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Acting Police Chief Bobby Powell, <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, Finance <br />Director Jeff Litchfield, Director of Public Works Steve <br />Gillett, Director of Community Development Joel Albrecht, Golf <br />Course Superintendent Dennis Hvalaty <br />Others Present: Pete Fisher, Moroney & Beissner; Sunshine <br />Wilkerson and Jan Lawler; John Black, Bayshore Sun; 11 <br />citizens <br />The invocation was given by City Attorney Askins. <br />Council considered approving the minutes of the regular <br />meeting of Council held August 27, 1990. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve the August <br />27 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Cooper. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed September 17 through 23 as <br />"Constitution Week" in La Porte. Sunshine Wilkerson and Jan <br />Lawler accepted the proclamation. <br />The Mayor called to order the public hearing on the Fiscal <br />Year 1990-91 budget. <br />The City Manager reviewed special features of the budget, and <br />Finance Director Jeff Litchfield reviewed the full budget. <br />The Mayor asked for public input, and hearing none, closed the <br />public hearing. <br />
