• • <br />City Council Minutes - Apri124, 2000 -Page 2 <br />Consultant to review Corp of Engineer's draft environmental impact study <br />concerning the Port of Houston. He informed City Council he would like to see <br />them take more participation in the opposition of the port expansion. <br />B. George Watkins - 5221 Valley Brook Ct.-Glen Meadows Community <br />Association -Addressed the City Council regarding speeding in neighborhood <br />a~~d stop sign issues. He requested Council put a stop sign at Valleybrook Street <br />to provide more safety to children. <br />5. Council considered approving an ordinance appointing Ralph S. Dorsett to the Planning <br />& Zoning Commission. <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong presented summary and recommendation. <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-2402 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTS; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; <br />CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance 2000-2402 as <br />presented by Mr. Anmstron~ Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke, and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />6. Council considered approving an ordinance appropriating $25,000 from the capital <br />improvement contingency fund to fund improvements to Pine Bluff Park. <br />Director of Parks & Recreation Stephen Ban presented summary and recommendation <br />and answered questions for City Council. <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-2403 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROPRIATING $25,000.00 FROM THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT <br />CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT TO FUND IMPROVEMENTS TO PINE BLUFF PARK; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Young to approve Ordinance 2000-2403 as <br />presented by Mr. Ban.
