~ ~ <br />• Joint Public Hearing 12/20/78 2 <br />2. CONSIDER AMENDMENTS TO THE ZONING ORDINANCE - The City Adminis- <br />trator read over the items that were being considered for <br />amendment. A copy of the proposed amendments are attached <br />and made a part of these minutes. The City Administrator further <br />stated that the Planning and Zoning Commission had reviewed the <br />Zoning Ordinance and recommended approval of the proposed changes. <br />A copy of Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation for and <br />a memo of opposition from Commissioner Cline are both attached <br />and made a part of_ these minutes. <br />Mayor Meza asked if there were any proponents to the proposed <br />changes? <br />Commissioner Tomerlin asked if there was any time limit for <br />the proposed review by Texas A & M? The Administrator stated <br />that a preliminary meeting would be held the first or second <br />week of January. <br />Commissioner Tomerlin stated that because of the proposed <br />review of the Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances, he recommended <br />that no changes be made to the Zoning Ordinance at this time. <br />• The Administrator stated that in his discussions with <br />Dr. Roesler of A & M, that the proposed changes would have <br />no bearing on the study; and it would probably take six months <br />for the study and did not feel it would have any adverse effect <br />on the study. <br />Commissioner Tomerlin asked if there was any particular reason <br />why the changes should be made at this time? It was determined <br />that General Homes, Monarch Homes and A & W Homes had requested <br />consideration be given to the changes of the Zoning Ordinance. <br />Pat Muston stated that much consideration had been given to <br />the proposed changes, including reviewing surrounding communities <br />requirements. <br />Mose Davis stated that some of the proposed changes were those <br />of A & M. <br />Jimmy R. Spradling was recognized and stated he knew little <br />of the proposed changes, other than what he read in the paper, <br />but was greatly opposed to the changes. He asked if any of <br />the citizens other than builders asked for the changes. He <br />further stated he would like to see the citizens get as much <br />interest from the Commission as the builders were for their <br />request. <br />• A lengthy discussion was held. <br />
