<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Ordinance No. 1009 <br /> <br />, Page 3 . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 5. Immediately after the close of the polls on <br /> <br />the 5th day of April, 1975, the election officials shall make <br /> <br />due return thereof to the City Commission of the City of La Porte, <br />and the City Commission shall canvass said returns at the earliest <br /> <br />practicable time, and shall, immediately after canvassing the <br /> <br />returns, declare the results of the election. Each such pro- <br /> <br />posed amendment, if approved by the majority of the qualified <br /> <br />voters voting in said election, shall become a part of the <br /> <br />Charter of said City. No amendment shall be considered adopted <br /> <br />until an official order has been entered upon the records of <br /> <br />said City by the City Commission, declaring the same adopted. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 6. Said election shall be held in accordance with <br /> <br />the provisions of the City Charter of the City of La Porte, and <br /> <br />the general election laws of the State of Texas governing general <br /> <br />and municipal elections, so far as the same may be applicable <br /> <br />thereto. Only duly qualified resident electors of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte, Harris County, Texas, shall be qualified to vote at <br /> <br />such election. <br /> <br />Section 7. Voting machines shall be used at said election, <br /> <br />and the ballots for said election shall have written or printed <br /> <br />thereon the following: <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />OFFICIAL BALLOT <br /> <br />AMENDMENT NO. 1 <br /> <br />(VOTE IIFOR" OR IIAGAINST") <br /> <br />"Amend Article II, Section 14, of the Home Rule Charter <br />to provide that the Mayor shall receive as compensation <br />for his services the sum of twelve thousand dollars <br />($12,000.00) per year, payable in equal monthly install- <br />ments, and, in addition, all necessary expenses incurred <br />by the Mayor in the performance of his official duties <br />shall be paid by the City. The Mayor shall devote his <br />full time to the duties of his office. This amendment <br />shall become effective May 1, 1975.11 <br /> <br />.. <br />
