"Absentee voting by personal appearance shall begin on the 20th day and shall continue through the 4th day preceding the day of the election and shall be conducted at the City Hall of the City of La Porte, between the hour~ of nine o'clock (9:00) ~.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M., Mondays through Fridays, and on Saturdays from ten o'clock (10:00) A.M. until two o'clock (2:00) P.M., except on legal holidays. Section 7. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of said election in accordance with . Section 6 hereof. Section 8. Upon a candidate tendering his application on the form prescribed, the City Clerk shall furnish to such candidate all information relative to the qualifications for the office being. sought, and the methods of placing the candidate's name on the ballot. Section 9. The deadline for a candidate to make applica- tion to have his name appear upon the ballot for such election, is hereby designated and established as five o'clock (5:00) P.M., Wednesday, March 3, 1976. The filing fee for each . candidate for the office of Commissioner is hereby established at Fifty Dollars ($50.00), and the filing fee for Mayor is hereby established at the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). The filing fees shall be used to defray the cost of the elec- tion, and said fees shall be prorated and any surplus shall be refunded to the candidates paying filing fees. As an alterna- tive to paying a filing fee, a candadate may obtain a place on the ballot by filing a petition as provided for in City of La Porte Ordinance No. 968, passed and approved October 1, 1973, codified as Section 9-3 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of La Porte. .
