<br />,. <br /> <br />.,..~----..-......... <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~--.... <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />p"" _.- ---........ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />/----'" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />fa fa <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; APPOINT- <br />ING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF <br />VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR <br />FILING FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. An election shall be held within the corporate <br /> <br />limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 24th day of April, 1962; such <br />day being the fourth Tuesday in April, between seven o'clock (7:00) A. M. and <br />seven o'clock (7:00) P. M., for the purpose of electing a Mayor, a Commission- <br /> <br />er of said City for Position Number 2 and a Commissioner of said City for <br /> <br />Position Number 4. <br /> <br />Section 2. There shall be but one (1) polling place, which <br /> <br />shall be the City Hall, located within the corporate limits of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte, Texas. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Mrs. H. M. Ralston <br /> <br />is hereby appointed Judge of said election, Mrs. Otis Harrison <br /> <br />and are hereby appointed Assistant <br /> <br />Judges of said election, and <br /> <br />Mrs. Lois Compton <br /> <br />Mrs. Rex Baker <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />Mrs. Hallie Wrip;ht <br /> <br />... '. <br /> <br />are hereby appointed Clerks of said election. <br /> <br />Section 4. Immediately after the close of the polls on the 24th <br /> <br />day of April, 1962, the election officials shall make due return thereof to <br /> <br />the City Commission and the City Commission shall canvass the returns on <br />the Monday next following the 24th day of April, 1962, or sooner, provided <br /> <br />that in the event of a failure, from any cause, of the Commission to convene <br /> <br />on the said Monday then the Commission shall be convened for that purpose <br /> <br />upon the earliest day practicable thereafter, and shall immediately after can- <br /> <br />vassing the returns declare the results of the election and the Mayor shall <br /> <br />immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate for whom the greatest number <br /> <br />of votes have been polled for the office of Mayor, a certificate of election, <br /> <br />and shall immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate for whom the greatest <br />
