<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~- <br /> <br />w.. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. ?,4.:tr <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE; DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRECINCT <br />AND A POLLING PLACE; PROVIDING FOR THE ,USE OF VOTING <br />MACHINES; APPO+NTING ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR <br />METHOD AND DATES OF ABSENTEE VOTING; PROVIDING FOR RETURN <br />AND CANVASS OF' VOTES OF ~AID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />NOTIQE; PROVIDING FOR FILING DEADLINE AND FILING FEES <br />FOR CANDIDATES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE" <br />TEXAS" THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. An election shall be held within the <br />corporate limits of the City of La Porte" Texas" on the 26th day <br />~AIl of April" 1966; such day being the fourth Tuesday in April, 1966, <br />between seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and Seven o'clock (7:00) P.M., <br /> <br />for the purpose of electing a Mayor of said City; a Commissioner <br />of said City for Position No.2; and a Commissioner of said City <br />for Position No.4. <br />Section 2. Th~ City Commission of the City of La Porte <br />hereby designates and establishes all of the area encompassed <br />within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, as one election <br />precinct for this election" and the City Hall of the City of <br />La Porte is designated as the one pollin~ place for such election. <br />Voting machines shall be used in the conduct of such election. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />MRS. H. M. RALSTON <br /> <br />is hereby <br /> <br />appointed Presiding Judge of said election" and MRS. OTIS HARRISON <br />is hereby appointed Alternate Presiding Judge of <br />said election. The ,maximum number of clerks which may be appointed <br />to serve at said election is three (3), who shall be selected by <br />the Presiding Judge or the Alternate Presiding Judge, as the case <br /> <br />may be. <br /> <br />-~ <br />,., <br /> <br />Section 4. Absentee voting by personal appearance shall <br />begin on the 20th day and shall continue through the 4th day <br />preceding the day of the election. Absentee voting shall be <br />conducted by the City Clerk at the same place as provided in <br />Section 2 hereof.
