<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />7~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING TnE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE; DESIGNATING AN ELECTION PRECINCT AND A POLLING PLACE; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE USE OF VOTING MACHINES; APPOINTING ELECTION <br />OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR METHOD AND DATES OF ABSENTEE VOTING; <br />PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES OF SAID ELECTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING DEADLINE AND FILING <br />FEES FOR CANDIDATES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE'HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS,THAT: <br /> <br />Section I. An election shall be held within the <br /> <br />corporate limits 'of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 25th day <br />of April, 1967; such day bei~g the fourth Tuesday in April, 1967, <br />between seven o'clock (7:00) A.M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P.M., <br /> <br />for the purpose of electing a Commissioner of said City for posi- <br /> <br />tion No.1, and a Comnissioner of said City for position No.3. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />hereby designates and establishes all of the area encompassed <br />within the corporate limits of the City of La Porte, as one election <br /> <br />precinct for this election, and the City Hall of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte is des~gnated as the one polli~g place for such election. <br />Voti~g machines shall be used in the conduct of such election. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Mrs. H. M. Ralston <br /> <br />is hereby <br /> <br />appointed presiding Judge of said election, and Mrs. 'Otis Ha~~tson <br /> <br />is hereby appointed Alternate Presidi~g Judge <br />of said election. The maximum number of clerks which may be appointed <br /> <br />to serve at said election is three (3), who shall be selected by <br /> <br />the presidi~g Ju~ge or the Alternate presidi~g Ju~ge, as the case <br />may be. <br /> <br />Section 4. Absentee voting by personal appearance shall <br /> <br />b~gin on the 20th day and shall continue through the 4th day <br /> <br />, . <br />preceding the day of the election. Absentee voting shall be <br />conducted by the City Clerk at the same place as provided in <br />Section 2. hereof. Voting machines shall be used for the casting <br />of absentee votes at such election. The City Clerk shall not <br />
