I <br />• <br />• <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA PORTS CITY CGN?MISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />February 7, 1966 <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />Lois J. Compton, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and Russell Shepherd. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Tom W. Osburn. <br />OTHER CITY OFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, City <br />Attorney Knox W. Askins, and City Clerk Martlyn Kelley. <br />VISTORS: Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />1. Mayor Pfeiffer opened the meeting for the purpose of holding <br />a Public Hearing to consider the rezoning of Block 1103, Town <br />of La Porte from class "C" Single Family Dwelling to Class "B" <br />Commercial. <br />Mr. Jim Mayes, representing the Bayshore Lumber Company, stated <br />that because of the improvement of Highway 146 tt is necessary <br />that they relocate thetr Cumber company, therefore they request <br />the rezoning of Block 1103 in order to relocate at that site. <br />Mr. Mayes explained the proposed layout and the general type of <br />- constructions. <br />Mr. Frank R. Boyle, Sr., and Mr. J. E. Cook expressed strong <br />support for the reclassification. <br />Mr. Jack Smith complimented the owners of the Lumber company <br />for showing confidence in our community be reestablishing their <br />business here. <br />Commissioner Shepherd made a motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Compton that Block 1103, Town of La Porte be reclassified from <br />class "C" Single FamtCy Dwelling to class "B" Commercial. <br />Mofion carried. <br />+ + + <br />2. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded by Commissioner <br />Shepherd and canted that fhe minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />January 17, 1966, and the Special Meeting of January 24, 1966 <br />be approved as presented. <br />+ + + <br />i <br />
