<br />• • <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA FORTE, TEXA5 <br />April 18, 1966 <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, Commissioners <br />Lois J. Compton, Russell Shepherd, and W. A. Stabs, Jr. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Tom W. Asburn. <br />OTHER CITY OFF/CIALS PRESENT: City Attorney Knox Askins, City Clerk <br />Marilyn Keltey, City Engineer H. Carlos Smith, a»d Chief of <br />Police H. F. Freeman. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />+ + + <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of April 14, 1966 were approved <br />as written. <br />+ + + <br />2. The City Engineer stated that the City of Lomax has agreed <br />to purchase one set of bleachers to loan to the City, to <br />be used at a Little League Ball Park. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Shepherd, seconded by <br />Commissioner Compton, that the City purchase an additional <br />four sets of bleachers from Safway Schaffolds Company, <br />X295.00 each. Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />3. A State traffic survey of Highway 146, and a recommendation <br />on speed limits to be established, was presented. <br />Commissioner Stabs recommended that the city request that <br />the suggested limit from "H" Street to "J" Street be <br />lowered from 40 mph to 30 mph. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated that he discussed this with the State <br />Engineer, and that after talking with Austin, he will be in <br />contact with the City again. <br />+ + + <br />4. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, and seconded by <br />Commissioner Compton that the Mayor and City Clerk be <br />authorized to execute a line easment to Houston Lighting <br />and Power Company, on Lot 11, Block 248, Town of La Porte. <br />Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />
