Meeting called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL PRESENT: MAYOR J. J. Meza, <br />Councilman John Tomerlin, Councilman I. J. Kibodeaux, <br />Councilman Virginia Cline, Councilman Tom C. Simons, <br />Councilman Norman L. Malone <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: James R. Hudgens, City <br />Manager; Knox Askins, City Attorney; Betty T. Waters, <br />City Secretary; H. F. Freeman, Chief of Police; Jerry <br />Hodge, Public Works Director; David Paulissen, Chief <br />Inspector; Paul Hickenbottcm, Fire Marshal; John Joerns, <br />Engineer. <br />Others Present: Carlos Smith and Fred Beck of Smith <br />Engineering; Dave Carbon, Bush, Hutchinson & Associates; <br />Debbie Calrke, Bayshore Sun; Jim Wyatt, Houston Lighting <br />& Power Co. <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ABSENT: None <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilman Malone <br />3. Motion was made by Councilman Cline to ~.pprove the minutes <br />as presented of the Regular Meeting of the La Porte City <br />Council held on September 2 19 0. The Motion was <br />second by Councilman Tomerlin. The motion carried ~4-ayes <br />and 0-nays. <br />Ayes: Councilman Tomerlin, Kibodeaux, Cline, Simons <br />Nays: None <br />4. <br />City Attorney Askins read AN <br />ING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF <br />HUNDRED NINETY (7g0), IN THE <br />COUNTY, TEXAS. A motion was <br />to approve and adopt Ordinan <br />Councilman Simons. The moti <br />Ayes: Councilmen Tomerlin, <br />Nays: None <br />ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDON- <br />THE ALLEY IN BLOCK SEVEN <br />TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS <br />made by Councilman Tomerlin <br />e No. 1232 second by <br />n carried -ayes and 0-nays. <br />ibodeaul~, Cline, Simons <br />5. City Attorney Askins read, AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING THE <br />HOUSTON LIGHTING AND POWER COMPANY TO FILE MODIFIED RATE <br />SCHEDULES TO BE CHARGED IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE FOR SUCH RATE SCHEDULES; <br />PROVIDING CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH SUCH RATE SCHEDULES MAY <br />BE CHANGED, MODIFIED, AMENDED OR WITHDRAWN; CONTAINING <br />FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING <br />ANY OTHER ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF WHICH MAY BE IN <br />
