The meeting was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Mayor Norman <br />Malone. The meeting was conducted at Sylvan Beach Pavilion. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper (arrived at 6:35 <br />P.M.), Ed Matuszak, Bob McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, <br />B. Don Skelton (arrived at 6:20 P.M.), Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera (late <br />arrival), City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant City Manager <br />John Joerns, Assistant to the City Manager Janie Bais, <br />Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, Director of <br />Community Development Joel Albrecht, Police Chief Charles <br />Smith, Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield, Street <br />Superintendent Orville Burgess <br />Others Present: Berdon Lawrence, Imogene Pulleine, Pat <br />Muston, Lou Lawler, Guy Sutherland, Bill Love, Tom Neely, Hal <br />Lawler, John Armstrong, Janet Wahrlich (members of the Visions <br />'89 committee); John Paul Zemanek, Executive Vice President <br />of La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce; John Black, Bayshore <br />Sun; 8 citizens <br />2. Council considered an ordinance repealing Ordinance 1634, an <br />Ordinance establishing hazardous waste incinerator siting <br />requirements. <br />Mayor Malone read: ORDINANCE 1634-A - AN ORDINANCE REPEALING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1634, AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING HAZARDOUS WASTE <br />INCINERATOR SITING REQUIREMENTS; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to adopt Ordinance <br />1634-A as read by the Mayor. Second by Councilperson Waters. <br />The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays (Councilpersons Cooper <br />and Skelton had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Matuszak, McLaughlin, Porter, <br />Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />3. Council considered a resolution naming the Jenny Riley <br />Community Center annex in honor of Charles E. Walker. <br />
