s <br />~~ <br />MINUTES <br />CIVIL SERVICE <br />COMMISSION MEETING <br />APRIL 22, 1982 <br />• <br /> <br />PRESENT: Chairman Keith Trainer, Commissioners' Weldon Randall and <br />Dexter Joyner, Chief Freeman, and Mary Davis. <br />ABSENT: None ~: <br />Guests present were: Mayor Virginia Cline, and Sgts. Neely and Butchee. <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman Keith Trainer. <br />The Minutes of the February 24, 1982 meeting. were read. Commissioner <br />Joyner made a motion to approve the minutes and Commissioner Randall <br />seconded the motion. . <br />LOCAL RULES AND REGULATIONS: Chairman Keith Trainer made the motion to <br />accept the Local Civil Service Rules and Regulations as presented and <br />Commissioner Joyner seconded the motion. Motion was carried. (Note: <br />The question arose concerning the document addressing masculine gender. <br />The Commission requested that the Director make changes where possible, <br />to reflect non-gender.) <br />The Commission instructed the Director to see that all Civil Service <br />C Personnel, the City Manager, Mayor and City Council, and Chief Freeman <br />receive copies of the Newly adopted Rules and Regulations as sonn as <br />possible, with written notification to the Chief of said Adoption. <br />ELIGIBILITY LIST: Chief Freeman presented an update on the status of <br />the Police Departments' current list of eligible candidates for the <br />position of Police Officer. Commission discussion followed which centered <br />on the current physical agility test and if that test is too difficult. . <br />ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS: Members of Commission read copies of a survey <br />prepared by representatives of TCLEOSE and administered by them to <br />classified and civilian members of the Police Department, and to random <br />citizens of the Community. The surveys are a part of the Study being <br />conducted by TCLEOSE. <br />Mayor Cline requested that the Civil Service Commission be present at <br />a Special Called Meeting on April 29, 1982, at 7:00 P.M. in the Council <br />Chambers. The purpose of the meeting is for Mayor and City Council, <br />the Civil Service Commission, and members of the La Porte Police Associa- <br />tion to become acquainted with each other and to discuss the functions <br /> <br />
