• • MINUTES - CALLED MEETING • OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION, LA PORTE, TEXAS JANUARY 29, 1975 6:15 P.M. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Walter Roberson, Lois Compton J. H. Smith, William S. Love and William R. Shedelbower. MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: None. OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Margie Goyen, City Clerk PRESIDING: Chairman Walter Roberson. + + + 1. CALL TO ORDER - The meeting was called to order by • Chairman Roberson. + + + 2. RECONSIDER REQUEST - JAKE HARRIS - LOTS 27 AND 28,BLOCK 125 FROM RESIDENTIAL TO COMMERCIAL - Mr. Roberson stated that a request had been received from Mr. Jake Harris for the Commission to reconsider rezoning Lots 27 and 28, Block 125, from Residential to Commercial, said property being located between 7th and 8th Streets. Mr. Jake Harris was recognized and stated that the purpose of his request was to build another building behind his present welding shop on 8th Street. He stated that he had retired and had gone into the welding business on a full time basis and his business was such that he needed additional space. He proposed to build a 20' x 40' building with office space in the front and welding facilities in the rear plus storage space. It was determined that there was additional property along 8th Street, but the owners were not interested in selling this property. Mr. Harris stated that he had owned the property where the shop is approximately eight years and the • property to be considered for rezoning approximately seven years.
