THOMAS, En' AL, PROVIDING FOR A C()1PENSATION AND THE PAY- <br />!: MENT THEREOF, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />I: <br />il <br /> <br />WHh~S, a suit has been tiled in the District Court of <br /> <br />: <br />I; Harris County, Texas, by E. A. Thomas and others, against the City <br />j;of La Porte and against certain City otficials; and <br />II <br />'I <br />" <br />I <br />I party defendant in the suit: and <br />I <br /> <br />II <br />r is proper and necessary to employ a practicing attorney to repre- <br />sent the City in said suit; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Attorney ot the City of La Porte is a <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners have decided that it ~ <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br />I <br /> <br />, <br />I <br />Section 1. That Ernest A. Knipp, an attorney licensed td <br />I <br />I <br />.practice, and practicing, before the Courts ot Harris County, Texas, <br /> <br />!be, end he is hereby, appointed as attorney and employed to derend' <br />I . <br /> <br />in such suit in behalf ot the defendants in said suit and he is I <br />I <br />hereby authorized to take whatever action is necessary in connecti~n <br />IWith said suit in the proper defense thereot. Knipp be paid, as I <br />compensation ror his services in said suit, a retainer ree in the I <br />sum ot One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) cash' and a per diem at the I <br />rate ot One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) each day in Court, exclusive i <br />I <br />or the r1rst day end that such compensetion be paid out or current! \/\ <br />funds in the general fUnds of the City. <br />Section 3.
