<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />,.--=-.-:~""'_....--- <br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />626 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE CALLING THE REGULAR ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR A POLLING PLACE; APPOINTING <br />ELECTION OFFICIALS; PROVIDING FOR RETURN AND CANVASS OF VOTES <br />OF SAID ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR NOTICE; PROVIDING FOR FILING <br />FEES FOR CANDIDATES; AND PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. An election shall be held within the cor- <br /> <br />porate limits of the City of La Porte, Texas, on the 25th day <br />of April, 1961; such day being the fourth Tuesday in April, be- <br />tween seven o'clock (7:00) A. M. and seven o'clock (7:00) P. M., <br /> <br />for the purpose 01 electing a Commissioner of said City for Posi- <br /> <br />tion Number 1 and a Commissioner of said City for Position Number <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Section 2. There shall be but one (1) polling place, <br /> <br />which shall be the City Hall, located within the corporate limits <br />of the City of La Porte, Texas. <br />Section 3. MRS. H. M. RALSTON is hereby appointed Judge <br /> <br />of said election, MRS. OTIS HARRISON is hereby appointed Assistant <br /> <br />Judge of said election and MRS. LOIS COMPTON, MRS. REX BAKER and <br />MRS. HALLIE WRIGHT are hereby appointed Clerks of said election. <br />Section 4. Immediately after the close of the polls on <br />the 25th day of April, 1961, the election officials shall make due <br />. return thereof to the City Commission and the City Commission shall <br />canvass the returns on the Monday next following the 25th day of <br />April, 1961, or sooner, provided that in the event of a failure, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />from any cause, of the Commission to convene on the said Monday <br /> <br />then the Commission shall be convened for that purpose upon the <br /> <br />earliest day practicable thereafter, and shall immediately after <br /> <br />canvassing the returns declare the results of the election and the <br /> <br />Mayor shall immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate for <br /> <br />whom the greatest number of votes have been polled for the office <br /> <br />of Commissioner Position Number 1, a certificate of election and <br /> <br />the Mayor shall immediately thereafter deliver to the candidate <br /> <br />for whom the greatest number of votes have been polled for the <br /> <br />office of Commissioner, Position Number 3, a certificate of <br />
