<br />\.f <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84-9 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUSPENDING THE PROPOSED IMPLEMENTATION BY HOUSTON LIGHTING & <br />POWER COMPANY OF REVISED RATES TO BE CHARGED IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE · <br />TEXAS. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS . <br /> <br />as on June 15. 1984. Houston Lighting & Power Company <br /> <br />(lithe Company") filed a Statement of Intent to change its rates for elect'ric <br /> <br />service within the City of La Porte <br />become effective on July 20. 1984; and <br /> <br />and has requested that said changes <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the Company has filed revised Tariff Schedules together with <br /> <br />statements specifying in detail each proposed change. a rate filing package. <br /> <br />and supporting testimony; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. Section 17(a) of the Public Utility Regulatory Act. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Article 1446c. Texas Revised Civil Statutes. gives the governing body of each <br /> <br />municipality exclusive original jurisdiction over electric rates within its <br /> <br />municipal boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. Section 43(d) of the Public Utility Regulatory Act authorizes <br /> <br />the governing body of any municipality acting as a Regulatory Authority to <br /> <br />suspend the operation of any proposed change in rates for a period not to <br /> <br />exceed ninety (90) days beyond the date on which the scheduled rates would <br /> <br />otherwise go into effect; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. the Company's proposed electric rate changes and the detailed <br /> <br />material supporting those changes require comprehensive evaluation and study; <br /> <br />NOW. THEREFORE. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of La Porte <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Texas: <br /> <br />That the change in rates for electric service within the City of <br /> <br />on July 20. 1984 should be. and are hereby. suspended for a period of <br /> <br />La Porte proposed by Houston Lighting & Power Company to become effective <br /> <br />ninety (90) days beyond said proposed effective date. until October 18. 1984. <br />
