• <br />MINt1TE5 - REGULAR M,T~" TINCr <br />LA PORTS CSrY COMMISSION -JULY 3, 1953 <br />10:00 A. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor M. D. Burgin, <br />with the following menbers and city officials present : Commissioners ~, R.Ri.gby <br />and Robert A. White, Supt, of Public Works W, A, Arthur, City Attorney Edv~ard J. <br />Cade, and City Clerk J. E. I~fuldoon. <br />Minutes of the last meetings were read and approved. <br />Motion by Rigby, seccar~d by White, that Ordinance No. ~.(~ B, bei ng <br />AN ORDINANCE AI~+IDING ORDINANCE N0. lt0~ A, FIXING HOUSE MOVING <br />PHtPti~T FEES ~!'HIN THE CITY OF LA PORTS, TEXAS, AND CONTAINING <br />A REPEALED CLAUSE, <br />be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />The City Commission unanimously approved the new bus line schedule. <br />Upon approval by the City Attorney of Midwestern Insurance CompatXy' Policy No. <br />521905 All. Coves P. L. P. D. far taxicabs, the Commission unanimously approved <br />• the policy. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by White, second by Rigby, approv3sig Valley Gutter to be constructed <br />along "A" Street, between First and Second, 1251 at x..65 per foot, at the <br />rnme~ ~ s cost. <br />Carried. <br />A discussion was held an building, plumbing ar~d Electrical inspections and fees. <br />It was the consensus of opinion of the Commission that for economical reasons, <br />that a savixgs could be made by placing this office under the supervision of <br />the Public 1Yerks Director. <br />Motion h'Y White, second by Rigby to appoint W. A. Arthur, Public ~4Yorks Director, <br />as Building, Plumbing and Electrica]. Inspector, at an increase in salary of <br />$15.00 per month, comme2cing August 1, 1953, the present Inspector_to be, <br />notified immediately of their action. <br />Carried. <br />A discussion was held. cn advertisement for the opening of the Baytowm-La Porte <br />Tunnel. The Commission postponed action on this matter until they could give <br />it further stucjy. <br /> <br />
