• • <br />• MINUTES <br />OF THE <br />PUBLIC HEARING AND SPECIAL CALLED P~IEETING <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 28, 1982 <br />1. The Public Hearing was called to order by Mayor Cline at <br />7:00 P.M. <br />2. Mayor Cline stated this meeting has been called to consider <br />public input on a request to rezone a 4.5 acre tract of <br />land on McCabe Road from Residential (R-1) to Commercial. <br />The request was made by Mr. Gerald Teel. <br />Mr. Teel came forward to discuss his purchase of the property <br />and plans. He answered numerous questions from the Council. <br />Mr. Delbert Walker recommended to Council that this rezoning <br />be denied until such time as the new zoning ordinance and <br />map is adopted. <br />• 3. Mayor Cline stated this meeting has been called to also <br />consider public input on a request to rezone a 23 acre tract <br />north of the intersection of State Highways 225 and 146 <br />(south of the tunnel - west side of 146) to Industrial with <br />a "Special Use Permit." <br />Mr. Kenneth W. Schmidt, President of Maritime Services, Inc., <br />came forward to inform Council of his request to rezone the <br />23.83 acres for container storage and repair. He further in- <br />formed Council of his plan to utilize the frontage of SH 146 <br />for a motel or office facility. <br />Mr. Schmidt answered questions from the Council. <br />Mr. B. J. Faulkner voiced his feelings concerning containers <br />in the City. <br />4. Mayor Cline adjourned the Public Hearing at 7:32 P.M. <br />5. Mayor Cline called to order the Special Called Meeting of the <br />La Porte City Council. <br />Members of the Council Present: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, <br />Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor <br />• Cline <br />
