Don Skelton, Linda Wester- gren Members of the City Council Absent: Councilperson Deotis Gay • Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City Attorney Knox Askins, City 6ecretary Betty Waters, Director of Public Works Jerry Hodge, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Director. of Administrative Services .Bob Herrera, Chief Building Official David Paulissen, Assistant City At- torney John Armstrong, Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, Planning and Zoning Commission Chairperson Dr. Genie Suhr and members Bertha Cook and J. R. Spradling Others Present: Frieda Beaty, Baytown Sun; Melissa Lestarjette, Bayshore Sun; Barbara Neal, La Porte Broadcaster; 47 interested citizens 2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Norman Malone. 3. Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting of the La Porte City Council held January 19, 1983. Councilperson Skelton asked that under item #l, others present - Pam Smith of the La Porte Broadcaster be added;. in item #4, that the word "National" be struck and that under item #6, Council Action, the letter from Marie Smith, 115 S. Virginia,. the minutes re- flect the two employees' names "Joe Hamilton and Alva Averett. Councilperson Skelton made a motion to accept the minutes as corrected. Second by Councilperson Pfeiffer. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 1 abstain, and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, Pfeiffer, Skelton, Westergren Nays: None Abstain: Mayor Cline stated she was not present for the meeting and wished to abstain.
