Members of City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, Councilpersons Norman Malone, John Longley, Ed Matuszak, Kevin Graves (arrived at 7:13), Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Linda Westergren Members of Citv Council Absent: None Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Police Chief Herb Freeman, Director of Administrative Services Bob Herrera, Fire Chief Joe Sease, Director of Parks and Recrea- tion Stanley Sherwood, Director of Public Works Jerry Hodge, Assistant Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Purchasing Agent Jackson Ray, Police Lt. Robert Hall • Others: George and Mrs. Turany; officials of La Porte Inde- pendent School District; members of La Porte ISD School Board; Mrs. Mineola Walker; representatives of the press 2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Malone. Mayor Cline welcomed members of the school board Brenda Tyrell, Jerry Graham, Reude Wheeler, Leo Rizzuto, ,John Paul Zemanek and D. O. Laird 3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting held December 7, 1983. Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays (Councilperson Graves had not yet arrived). Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, ,Matuszak,-,Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Cline Nays: None 4. Council considered approving the minutes of the Special Called Meeting held December 14, 1983. • Motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to a rove the minutes as presented.
